The Great Pyramids are undoubtedly one of the world's most incredible construction feats. But as a wonder of the world that dates all the way back to 10,000 BC, archeologists and historians still have some unanswered questions regarding its construction and usage.
People have been theorizing up and down about how the pyramids were made to what they were used for, and of course, some (we're looking at you History Channel) have alleged the mega structures are the works of advanced alien civilizations.
So from the probably to the insane, here are just a few theories on the great pyramids that haven't been debunked... yet.

1. Paid Labor
Although many people believe that the Egyptians used slaves to build the pyramids, one widely accepted theory suggests that they used skilled labor that they paid with food and drink. -
2. Ramp Theory
It is not known exactly how the Egyptians moved the massive stones into place for construction, but the ramp theory is the most widely accepted. Using ropes, sleds, and wet sand to reduce friction, the workers likely relied on their own strength to do the rest. Straight and spiraling ramps were used in conjunction with pullies to get the stones up the side of the structure. -
3. Water Shaft Theory
Although not as widely accepted, some people believed that the Egyptians used canals and rafts to transport the heavy stones up to the base of the structure, which was then surrounded by a moat. Some even believe a series of water elevators helped lift the stones all the way to the top. A few imperfections and traces of water have helped fuel this theory. -
4. Foreigners
There is some evidence that the middle pyramid of Amenemhat II was constructed by foreigners from Canaan. -
5. Local Quarries
Many people wonder how the Egyptians were able to source so much well constructed stone, but most historians theorize that they relied on various local quarries for the differing kinds of stones used. -
6. Orion, or Three Pyramid Theory
Proposed by scientist Robert Bauval, this theory suggests that the main three pyramids align with the main three stars of the Orion constellation, as they appeared in the skies of 10,000 BC. It is not as widely accepted. -
7. Nikola Tesla's Pyramid Power Theory
Tesla believed that the Pyramids were constructed as power sources, and were made using energy storing materials from the Sun and the Moon, using crystal energy. Obviously, there is no evidence to support this, but it is likely that the stones were coated with other material at some point. -
8. Aliens
Many conspiracy theorists believe in different forms that the pyramids were constructed with extra terrestrial help, or by a now extinct advanced civilization. I think we should just give our ancestors the credit they deserve.
